The Pencil Bomb!

with 2 comments

Here’s an authentic North Korean children’s cartoon.  It’s in Korean, but you can follow the basic storyline pretty easily without even knowing a single word of Korean. The story is of a little child who falls asleep while doing his math homework and dreams that his pencil and protractor have turned into artillery guns, which he uses to blow up the evil US (I kid you not) invaders. He then wakes up and realizes the greatness and usefulness of math and spreads the gospel to his friends.

  1. […] THE PENCIL BOMB:  One of the better new North Korea blogs, along with DPRK Forum, is the North Korea Monitor, which dares to ask, “What are they showing the kiddies in Pyongyang?”  Nothing, of course, if the electricity isn’t working, but when it is, they’re teaching them to hate us.  […]

  2. What are the NK kids thinking about the outside world?… Please~let all the children know peace, love and pure-knowledge through medium. (can we say mass media in NK?).
Just a math homework~do the kids learn math for calculatuing how to win a war?
